Fuch’s Dystrophy Success Story
“I have known I had Fuch’s distrophy since in my early 30’s and watched my mother (with Fuch’s) go through an unsuccessfull cornea transplant in the early 90’s. I recently moved to Florida and was referred to Dr. Gulani as being a leader in the treatment of Fuch’s.
After an examination, Dr. Gulani recommended that we first pursue treatment on the eye most debilitated by both Fuch’s and a cataract. During the cataract surgery he implanted a Toric lens to correct the astigmatism in that eye. Approximately three months after the cataract removal he performed surgery to remove the Fuch’s layer of the cornea. and replaced with a doner transplant (all without stitches). Five weeks later my vision in that eye is getting better and better.
