“About 3 years ago, I mentioned to my eye doctor that I was having trouble seeing sometimes even with my glasses. At certain times everything seemed in a bit of a haze. He said that I had the beginnings of cataracts and since I was so near sighed I need someone who could deal with the extreme issue involved. He recommended I see Dr. Gulani.
At my first appointment with Dr. Gulani he examined my eyes, preformed several test, ask me what I hoped for my vision and then told me that I had numerous issues with my eyes and before we did anything he wanted me to see a retina specialist just so we knew everything we would have to deal with. Once all the results were in Dr. Gulani told me that he thought he could use the new multifocal cataract lenses and PRK surgery to correct my vision to the point I would not need glasses.
After weight the risk and thinking about it I decided to proceed. Implantation of the cataract lenses went well, in fact it went so well that when I had follow up visits with the other eye doctors they all remarked about how well the lenses were placed and how they were amazed with the results. After allowing the lenses to heal the PRK surgery was scheduled. Again the surgery went well and my eyes were healing as I execpted, however on the 5th post op day I suddenly lost most of my vision. In a bit of panic I called Dr Gulani not realizing he was in Texas at the time. He told me not to worry, he would met me first thing in the morning at his office. The next morning, a Saturday, he called my house about 8:00 and said he was on his way the office and I should meet him there. What I did not know at the time was he had left Texas early and had literally just gotten off the flight in Jacksonville when he called me.
I met him at the office and after an examine he said I was just a little slow in healing a little bit of a scab had formed, he bandaged my eyes for a couple for a day to allow the healing to progress and from that point on everything progressed great. With in a week I was back to work and since then for the first time since I was 6 no more glasses or contacts. I highly recommend Dr Gulani, he truly is a remarkable surgeon and he gives his all for his patients vision.”
