3D IMAX-like screen for Eye surgery ( Innovations & Eye care)
Dr. Gulani was selected to evaluate the First 3D IIMAX-like screen for eye surgery in entire North East Florida and he became the First in the world to perform his ‘No Stitch’ amniotic eye surgery using this technology.
Eye surgery is usually performed using surgical microscopes which allow the surgeon to visualize the microanatomy of the eye. Now for the first time, instead of microscopes, eye surgeons could be wearing 3D glasses and operating on the eye while the looking at its 3D image on an IMAX-like screen.
Dr. Gulani was selected to evaluate this futuristic technology based on his national and international reputation as a leader and innovator with exemplary surgical skills. Excited about using it,Dr. Gulani states that this is the future not only for eye surgery, offering freedom and extrinsic details to the operating surgeon resulting in higher safety and better outcomes for patients but also to teach eye surgeons locally and worldwide.
He also envisions a “picture in picture” projection which a novice surgeon could use as a guide while operating real-time or even having pre-made lines and directives on screen to guide any surgeon in any country to perform surgery thus raising the “standard of care”.
First patient to undergo surgery using this technology; Nurse, Beverly Raymond was very happy with her outcomes the very next day after surgery. “I thank God for having found Dr. Gulani. I cannot wait to have my other eye operated upon” – Nurse Beverly Raymond. This technology can be used for LASIK and Cataract surgery too says Dr. Gulani who has invented new surgical instruments with Bausch & Lomb for his futuristic techniques. *
