Blind Couple Travels Over 5,000 Miles from POLAND for the Gift of Sight on Their Wedding Anniversary—A Thanksgiving Miracle in Jacksonville

As the world prepares to celebrate Thanksgiving, a blind couple from Poland has their own miracle to be thankful for: the gift of sight. After years of darkness and despair, the couple traveled over 5,000 miles to Jacksonville, Florida, to seek the expertise of world-renowned eye surgeon Dr. Arun C. Gulani. What they received was not only a transformation of their vision but of their lives.

As a Wedding Anniversary gift to each other, this courageous couple underwent life-changing, innovative surgical techniques to correct their severe and complex eye conditions including end stage/ extreme Keratoconus in husband’s both eyes with corneal scars, extreme Irregular Astigmatism, and very thin corneas. He underwent Dr. Gulani’s  Differential hand lamellar Keratoplasty in one eye and Corneoplastique based Intacs in second eye.The wife had complex Keratoconus with High Irregular Astigmatism, Congenital polar cataracts, high nearsightedness (Myopia). She underwent Corneoplastique® based Corneal contour modification (C2M) with collagen cross linking, staged with  LenzOplastique based Toric Lens Cataract surgery. Procedures other surgeons had declared “impossible” became a reality at the Gulani Vision Institute, where Dr. Gulani’s innovative techniques have set global benchmarks.

“We came here with hope, but what we found was nothing short of a Miracle,” said Nobert, one of the newly sighted individuals. “For the first time in years, I can look into my wife’s eyes, and this Thanksgiving, we are returning home with hearts full of gratitude and vision full of life.”
