Gulani, M.D., M.S., who is fondly known by colleagues as the “da Vinci” of eye surgery for his artistic surgical skills, “Man of Vision” for his relentless pursuit of “Vision beyond 20/20” and “Dr. GQ” for his immaculate dress sense and fashion. Dr. Gulani’s innovative fashion line and designer sense established as Gulani Fashions™ has a tag line of “For those who have Arrived!” that underscores his desire to always inspire while creating artistic and bespoke vision translated to his clothing style and haberdasher approach to life itself. With unique fabrics and colors carefully chosen by him from around the world, along with individualized cuts and designs, he sets out to create an image and enhance the appearance of a select clientele. Gulani Fashions™ depicts the story and even the journey of that individual who he dresses and designs for, many a time surprising them by helping them re-discover their own self. “Fashion is my other passion” says world renowned eye surgeon Dr. Arun Gulani, globally known as ‘Dr. GQ,’ who attributes his surgical artistry to his obsession with elegance, symmetry and beauty. “I have created a line that merges impeccable style with vision. In 2017, Dr. Gulani launched his fashion line – Gulani Fashion. “My fashion line is as unique as my practice is. In fact, my tagline for Gulani Fashion is “For Those Who Have Arrived” – for people who aspire to look their very best. Once again, just like my eye surgeries, I don’t offer choices. I will decide what is best for my clients based on each person’s unique characteristics – their background, desires, body type and what I feel should be the colors and cuts that would suit them best, for both men and women. Then, I celebrate their looks just like how I celebrate their vision,” he said. In fact, his artistic sense can be felt and seen in his everyday life. For instance, he uses colors in full range from suits to scrubs to the lighting in his surgery suite and colors of medical instruments. “One surreal observation is that somehow (without knowing it), I always seem to be wearing the color that coincides with the color of the theme of the conference at which I am speaking,
Dr. Ming Wang , a nationally renowned eye surgeon from Tennessee acquired a custom suit designed by Dr.Gulani and proudly wore it to the National Conference for eye Surgeons where he took multiple selfies with Dr.Gulani.
Dr. Gulani had searched for the color and material given Dr. Wang’s Chinese heritage and selected a strong red color that depicts power in the Chinese culture, while also a self-design of sky blue which is the color of the temple of peace. He gave it a western flare with a double-breasted, high lapel while lining the interior with an Asian brocade.

Dr. Gulani’s penchant for fashion, colors and design knows no barriers as during his worldwide eye surgery teaching travels, he often stops by even ordinary places attracted by colors of swatches and materials and never hesitates to talk to any local tailor to help them design what’s in his mind at that moment related to that country, and then actually, proudly wears them during his podium teachings while in that country.

During COVID while the world was shut down, Dr.Gulani continued to teach his innovative eye surgical techniques online and zoom webinars for thousands of eye surgeons from all over the world, every day. Unlike many other speakers who were dressed on top but maybe wore pajamas or shorts below, Dr. Gulani used to dress up in his complete ensemble including suit and shoes and then teach online even though only the top of his ensemble could be seen on the zoom webinars.
During this difficult time for the world, he initiated the Mask-a rate” competition designing masks out of home-made material and established a global competition.
Following his heart to give back, Dr.Gulani donates his GulaniFashion™ suits to veterans and deserving locals in the community so they start their lives on the right foot with confidence.
