My vision was not awful… I could still “see” but not good enough to drive or read from far away. The impacts it had on my personal life were huge because I am a very active person (running, tennis, football, basketball, beach, etc). My contacts would constantly get in the way of these activities from getting dirt in my eyes while playing football.. my eyes would burn in the ocean… could not open my eyes in fresh water… just to name a few. When I would give my eyes a break and switch to glasses, the problems were worse. I simply could not be as active as I wanted to be because glasses are difficult to wear with sports. Whenever I traveled, I would always make sure to have my glasses and back-up contacts… this became a huge inconvenience.
At GVI I had a Great experience… Dr. Gulani took his time with me and would not let me go without having me ask enough questions. It almost got a bit frustrating because I could not think of any good questions… so Dr. Gulani helped me by explaining things that I should know to ensure that I receive complete information with the procedure. The staff was also very friendly and they simply know me by name which always makes you feel welcomed.
He is very intelligent and genuine. When I tell about my experiences to my friends/co-workers, I always tell the story about how he knew my problems before I gave symptoms just by looking at my eyes.
He walks the walk. At first I was thinking “this guy is crazy, I have never heard things like this (e.g. 20/15 vision better than 20/20 vision)” but sure enough, he proved me wrong and I am now seeing 20/15 with no complications.
I love it. I have no problems… sports are great. I have no irritation. No dry eye. No problems. It is honestly the best thing I could have ever done.
Amazing. The personal touch means a lot. I went to a LASIK chain to get their opinion and was asked if I would be willing to get the procedure the day-of. When I left, I was called each day and felt so pressured to accept treatment. That was a huge turn-off as I did not appreciate this since I take my vision seriously.
Dr. Gulani would not even let me get the surgery anytime soon because he wanted to ensure my eyes were prepared (rid of existing contact infections, etc) before he thought about the procedure. He took a personal interest in my activities, sports, work, etc to ensure that the procedure was tailored to me and the operation happened at an appropriate time with my schedule (flying on an airplane, and scuba diving lessons).
I will definitely recommend Dr. Gulani. I have already done so for co-workers to give him a call should they be interested and including my boss that is considering the procedure, he is in NYC.
