We travelled back to Jacksonville today so Greg could have his left eye correction performed. One of the first things Dr. Arun C. Gulani did when we got here was to test his previous work on Greg’s right eye – we were thrilled to see that Greg was able to see at 20/20!! That’s incredible!
Similar to our prior visit, we saw patients from all over the world – California, Japan, and Hawaii. The gentleman from Japan had had RK also, with an unbelievable 36 radial cuts (see pics below). We were able to sit with his father and two other patients to observe the procedure – as Dr. Gulani is always willing to give a front row seat to his work because teaching is his passion! This is living proof that no prior RK procedure is beyond correction.
My wish for this post is to help Dr. Gulani get the word out to the medical community that RK is NOT an insurmountable obstacle to excellent vision. Dr. Gulani sees beyond the RK scars and instead looks for the best vision potential for each patient and then develops a customized solution for each patient. As an RN, I see first hand that even family practice doctors don’t take the time that Dr. Gulani does, to build personal relationships with their patients.
