Having heard this three times in this week itself especially in an emotional story of this patient who flew in from New York today morning, I thought of sharing this with you all.
I have shared thousands of my everyday patient interactions in my continued desire to encourage and inspire my colleagues to raise the bar in the world of refractive eye surgery where patient outcomes are the only gauge of success.
All my patients post on their social media the stories of excitement and contentment having been deprived of options and being told they are “not a candidate” while they fly back with vision.
These patients when they travel to certain Surgeons who may have spoken on podiums or written articles about cutting edge techniques were quickly admonished with options of mediocre and invasive surgeries and an excuse that the talks and writings are just for podiums not for the real world.
Though this is an every day tale of patients who travel to me, This particular patient’s desire to relate and share his entire story having traveled completely blind by flight today from NYC to see me was worth sharing as I encourage surgeons worldwide to “walk their talk” And fight for their patients vision without excuses.” – Dr. Gulani
