Corneoplastique™

Lasik is a procedure that is performed on the cornea (front clear window of your eye). Dr. Gulani believes that detailed understanding of corneal tissue is of enormous importance. A Lasik surgeon with thorough knowledge and specialized corneal experience will be better able to screen potential patients. This in turn will increase the chances of a successful Lasik outcome and help prevent complications. To that end, he has developed a procedure called Corneoplastique™.

If you have had a previous corneal disease or problem such as corneal scars or pterygium/pinguecula, or any previous eye surgeries such as cataract surgery, Dr. Gulani can use the Corneoplastique™ procedure to prepare your eyes for laser vision correction.

In the event of any complication after a Lasik procedure, Corneoplastique™ can be used to attempt help repair the cornea, reverse the complication, and improve vision.

Other Advanced Vision Surgeries

Phakic IOLs - Implantable Collamer® Lens (ICL) - Visian® ICL is generally seen as an alternative to Lasik or laser vision surgery for the treatment of nearsightedness (myopia). These implants, which resemble contact lenses, are placed between the cornea and the iris (the colored portion of the eye), or just behind the iris.

Dr. Gulani offers Intacs® for treating the progressive disease of keratoconus. When Keratoconus progresses to the point where no other treatment is effective, a corneal transplant may be the best course of action. Dr. Gulani offers this surgery in several ways, using advanced, innovative instruments and techniques.

Astigmatism is a type of blurry vision resulting from an irregularly-shaped cornea. It can occur along with either nearsightedness or farsightedness. Dr. Gulani can treat astigmatism with Advanced Laser Vision Surgery and teaches this to his fellow eye surgeons in seminars and presentations worldwide.

Presbyopia is associated with the need for reading glasses and is caused by the aging of the lens and losing the ability to zoom. Dr. Gulani offers several options to address this problem, including monovision, and the use of multifocal lens implants.

It is important to note that many times patients have a number of symptoms and problems. In many cases, it may require a surgeon with the advanced ability to perform multiple surgeries in order to best treat your vision problems. Dr. Gulani offers comprehensive surgical skills and knowledge to take vision to an art, and provide you with the best options.
